Stanes Coonoor Alumni Association

Hi Stanites,
Founded in 1858 by Thomas Stanes,  Stanes Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, Coonoor,  is one of the oldest in the Nilgiris. Situated in the heart of the beautiful town of Coonoor at an elevation of 1850 metres above mean sea level, Coonoor is easily accessible both by road and rail. Coimbatore, 80 kms away, is the nearest airhead to the town. The moderate year-round weather and sylvan environs make for an ideal locale for cultivating young minds.
The co-educational school, with residential facilities, is managed by the Stanes High School Council and has a rich legacy of Past Students who cherish their alma mater and pay gratitude to the school. Stanites always remember their old school, wherever they may be. They are very proud to belong to the Stanite family. In order to pay rich tribute to the school, nay the second home, that has nourished them, the old students of Stanes, have an association for the Alumni, with visions of world wide membership, -Stanes Coonoor Alumni Association .
Belonging to the Stanes Coonoor Alumni Association  is the best way to keep in touch with the school and it's activities and progress as well as the other past students and the rest of the Stanite family.

The Stanes Alumni Association started about 15 years back (2000) and currently has Mr Glen Corning, Principal Stanes Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Coonoor as the President, Mr Suresh Kochar, as Vice President, Ms Angela Paul as Secretary and Ms Pamela Alves as Treasurer. Mr Llewellyn Xavier is the Patron.
During the meeting of 15 August 2012,it was highlighted that there was no well defined channel of communication with the Alumni and information was passed on through sms, emails, posts on blogs, facebook groups, orkut groups etc, and hence, the Stanes Coonoor Alumni Group on google groups was conceived as an umbrella group to serve as a communication media and discussion forum for the Alumni.
The Following were nominated as regional coordinators to get Stanites together in their area of residence.

Peter Greene for Canada/ North America.
John Satheesan Daniel for UK and Europe
Siva Kumar Thammaiah for Bangalore
Sunny Lolappan for Kerala
Llewellyn Xavier  for Coimbatore
Minnie Tensingh for Chennai

This is but a small step towards strengthening our Alumni Association. We as Alumni, need to shed our inhibitions and drive our Association to become more active, and to this we solicit all alumni to put in their efforts to make this group grow.

We Stanes Coonoor Alumni have created a google group, stanescoonooralumini@googlegroups.com ; those of you wishing to join this group may send a mail on stanescoonooralumini@googlegroups.com giving your name, year of entry into Stanes, year of leaving, class upto which studied and email id,we shall add you to the group.
